The organ in the concert hall in Lucerne, Switzerland, was built in 2000 with four manuals and 87 ranks (66 stops) by the Goll firm of Lucerne, founded in 1868. Three monumental works from the Romantic repertoire are played on the monumental organ, allowing organist Christian Schmitt to exploit the fine acoustics in the stunning new complex. The organ city of Bad Homburg possesses several organs reflecting stages of organ building and musical history. The Erlöserkirche possesses both a large, turn-of-the-20th-century Sauer organ and a new Bach organ based on the 1742 Thuringian model. The Bürgy organ at the Schlosskirche represents the late Baroque. Other churches have Dreymann and Klais organs. Hayko Siemens is musical director at Erlöserkirche and organist for this CD.
