Christmas at the Arlington

Scott Foppiano and a Wonder Morton

One of only five “Wonder” Mortons built by the very prolific Robert Morton Company, the organ now in Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre was built in 1928 for Loew’s Jersey Theatre in Journal Square, Jersey City, New Jersey. Removed from the theatre and stored in Texas for nearly ten years, it was donated to the city of Santa Barbara, restored by the Santa Barbara Theatre Organ Society and re-opened in its new home with a packed house enjoying a performance by Tom Hazleton on October 1, 1988. Since the relocation to California, the organ has been enlarged by three ranks and awaits the addition of quintadena pipes to make a total of 28 ranks.

Scott Foppiano, 2007 American Theatre Organ Society Organist of the Year, frequent convention performer and recitalist, puts the Robert Morton organ through its paces on this lastest of his six CDs.
