Christian Erbach - Orgelwerke Organist Reinhard Jaud plays works of Renaissance composer Christian Erbach on the 1555 Ebert organ at the Hofkirche in Innsbruck, Austria. The organ was rebuilt in 1701 in a more Baroque style, and then was not played while the church was closed from 1748 to 1832. The organ fell into such disrepair that it was unplayable.
The organ was restored in two phases in 1965 and 1976 by Jürgen Ahrend. The Renaissance character of the instrument was restored, and many of the original pipes (save for the reeds) were retained. The case was restored, complete with doors in the façade; the doors were closed to quiet the organ during Advent and Lent.
Jaud is joined by the Choralschola of the Muri-Gries Parish Convent (Bozen, Italy) on the Magnificat der 2. Vesper an Pfingsten, which alternates between organ and Gregorian Chant.
