Clang, Clang, Clang: Jonathan Ortloff in Rochester


Jonathan Ortloff is joined by Allan Ward, Drums, at the RTOS-Grierson 4-23 Wurlitzer in Rochester, New York’s Auditorium Theatre to play a parade of tunes from The Trolley Song to a selection from Stravinsky’s Firebird.

The RTOS-Grierson Organ heard here was opened Christmas, 1928 as Wurlitzer Opus 1951 with an inaugural performance by its designer, Tom Grierson. Moved after its home was scheduled for demolition in 1965, the organ was re-opened in the Rochester Masonic Temple’s Auditorium Theatre in 1967. A Z-Tronics relay and a new specification designed by Simon Gledhill were installed in 2006. The original 21 ranks have been augmented by an English Horn and a Solo Vox Humana.
