Dulcis Memoria

Tribute to 16th century Krakow
Krakow was a center of culture and politics in the 16th century, as well as being one of the largest cities in Europe. The musical diversity of this era is recalled in the varied selections of Marcin Szelest performed on the organ of the city’s Heilig-Kreuz Kirche.

Apparently dating from 1704, the organ, by an anonymous builder, has been researched and reconstructed to a coherent whole with new pipes, where necessary, using an alloy matched to the original metal and with new bellows, chests and an expanded pedal division for modern use.

A Clusterzimbel XI with all pipes of a given key sharing a common foot is contained in the organ. This extremely rare stop is pictured in the CD booklet and will immediately give tuners and technicians pause.
