The stately Emperor was built in Belgium by Mortier in the 19th century and was moved to a midwestern U. S. beer garden prior to Prohibition, which led to storage for 30 years. It was rejuvenated for another restaurant and finally came to Sikeston, Missiouri, in 1961. The instrument has 418 pipes (including brass vox humana, saxophone, and trombone), bass drum, snare, cymbal, double castanets, and xylophone.
