The Gallant Style: Mozart and his Contemporaries
Christian Brembeck plays the 1798 Holzhay organ in the Abbey Church at Neresheim
Characterized by playful melodies, embellishments, finely crafted motives, colorful sonorities, an emphasis on upper voices and the (then) new Alberti bass, style galant is demonstrated here not only on an organ ideal for the purpose, but with a panoply of works by composers in the style.
Works are by Wolfgang and Leopold Mozart, Knecht, Grünberger, Kuchar, Vogler and Rinck. A stoplist and registrations are included.
