Hilary Norris plays the 1818 Thomas Elliot 2-17 organ of G-compass at Ashridge Chapel in Hertfordshire, a baronial estate entirely rebuilt in the neogothic style of the early 19th century, including its large and separate chapel building, and now functioning as a business school. Virtually unchanged but restored in1990, the instrument is used here to play music for which it was designed. Clarity, warmth, and sweetness make it perfectly suited to the gentle simplicity of this charming repertoire. ARNE: Introduction & Fugue HAYES: Concerto II HERON: Voluntary IX KEEBLE: Voluntary XVI RUSSELL: Voluntaries 7 & 9 WEBBE: Voluntary 2 S. WESLEY: Voluntaries 6 & 10, Op. 6 HOOK: Voluntary ADAMS: Adeste Fideles Variations; Organ Piece
