Gigout Organ Works, 5 Volumes

Eugène Gigout (1844-1925) was organist at St. Augustine Church in Paris for 60 years and a teacher at the Paris Conservatoire. He favored playing pieces of moderate length and none of his own works exceed about 10 minutes. Many are based on plainchant and use modal harmony which he felt to be the true language of church music. Gerard Brooks plays Cavaillé-Coll organs.
