Hasse (1699-1783), born to a North German family of organists, wrote approximately 80 operas and 20 oratarios as well as numerous other compositions. Much influenced by several years in Italy, he settled in Dresden and enjoyed fame in his time. The six concertos recorded here by Hungarian organist János Sebestyén are, in the style of the period, loosely notated and could be performed on other keyboards or in combinations with other instruments.
