Product Description

Vol. 1 visits three organs: two at Rheinau in the former monastery / basilica and one at the former convent at St. Katharinental, near Diessenhofen. At Rheinau: the large and restored (Kuhn) 3m West gallery organ of 1715 built by the Augsburg master Johann Christoph Leu and the 11-stop choir organ restored by Kuhn to its 1746 state as built by Konrad Speisegger of Schaffhausen. At St. Katharinental: the ca. 1736 Johann Jakob Bommer 2-33 restored by Kuhn in 1967, the best preserved of the few organs extant by this builder from Weingarten. The 32-page CD booklet features histories, stoplists, and color photos. Organist Albert Bolliger plays 17th & 18th century works.
