Nosetti plays the 5-manual, 160-stop Tamburini organ at the Cathedral in Messina, completed in 1949. The instrument replaces a slightly smaller one by the same builder which was destroyed in the second world war. The instrument speaks from five different sections of the church, and is inspired by the work of Henry Willis and other English organ builders. Rosario Lazzaro was the organist for the Cathedral until the bombing of Messina and destruction of the former instrument. The works played here are his only organ compositons, and were influenced by the symphonic richness of this organ.
