Scott Montgomery, distinguished winner of many organ playing competitions and Director of Music for Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Champaign, Illinois, chooses a varied program of classic and contemporary works to show thoroughly the sonorities of the two Mander organs in Saint Peter’s Church, St. Louis, Missouri. The church’s new chancel organ is 44 stops and 58 ranks on three manuals and pedal and built with mechanical action in a divided chancel. The organbuilder reviews several of the challenges this arrangement presents in the CD booklet. The chamber organ is normally housed in the chapel of the church, but may be moved for other uses. It has a single manual and four stops. CHANCEL ORGAN: MANNING: Parade for Saint Peter J. S.
