Joseph Bonnet plays a major role in French and North American organ history. Organist at historic St. Eustache in Paris, Bonnet was also an international recitalist and teacher, giving over a 100 concerts in the U. S. between 1917 and 1919. In 1921 he founded the organ department of the Eastman School, and in 1937 he succeeded Louis Vierne as professor of organ at the César Franck School of Paris. With the outbreak of WWII, he returned to North America and died while on vacation in Canada. The organ works come early in his career an are played by Vincenzo Ninci on the 1894 Cavaillé-Coll 3-53 at St. Antoine des 1520 in Paris.
