J. S. Bach Organ Music for the Christmas Season: Matthew Dirst at Stanford

Matthew Dirst offers fresh and lively insights in this program of Bach works mostly related to the seasons of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany. C. B. Fisk Opus 85 in Stanford Memorial Church serves the repertory well. In some selections, Dirst uses the meantone tuning available with the movement of a lever above the keydesk of this famous organ. Fisk Opus 85, built in 1984, shares the loft with an equally distinguished 1901 Murray Harris organ not heard on this recording.
