To commemorate the 300th anniversary of Gottfried Silbermann's death in 2003, eight notable organists have made the first-ever complete recording on all of the extant organs of Gottfried Silbermann. Repertoire performed is all appropriate for these instruments in style and era. In addition to works by J.S. Bach, Krebs and Pachelbel, works by some German Baroque composers that may be unfamiliar are also featured. The thoughtful liner notes include color photographs, stoplists and registrations used in the recordings, as well as notes on the performers, works, and the known history of each of the instruments, including their current state. Notes are in English, German and French.
