From Regensburg Cathedral JOSEPH RENNER: First Suite for Organ (1890) in 6 mvts. REGER: Wie schön leucht’ uns der Morgenstern, op. 40/1 STOIBER: Improvisations on Regensburger Wolfgangslied (Fantasie, Fugue and Choral) and on Tu es Petrus (4 mvts) Glorious acoustics of St. Peter Cathedral in Regensburg, Germany, greet the sound of the large organ built by Mathis (1989). The gifted cathedral organist, Franz Josef Stoiber, plays the unusual and attractive Renner work (perhaps the only recording of it) and improvises well. The Reger receives a fine performance as well.
