Gottfried Silbermann’s last great organ was dedicated in 1755 at the Dresden Cathedral. In 1944 all of the pipes were stored in anticipation of war damage, which occurred on February 13, 1945, when the mechanism and case were destroyed. The Dresden firm of Jehmlich reconstructed the organ but it has been rarely recorded. This CD was made in a live concert played Johannes Ricken, owner of the Motette CD firm and student of Ewald Kooiman, Anton Heiller, and Daniel Roth.
